At 11:30 a.m. a minivan collided with a tractor trailer at a traffic light at County Route 541 and Cadillac Road, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said.

Stanton, a front-seat passenger in the minivan, was killed, authorities said. The driver of the minivan and an infant were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

"She was a backbone in our family," Christopher Eric Hughes, her stepfather, wrote on Facebook.

Kayla "dedicated her life to her brothers and sisters," Hughes said. "This girl wanted the world. This girl has been nothing short of incredible...smart, beautiful, talented, she made sure people knew her and loved to stand out in crowds. Thank you for being my daughter and best friend."

The driver of the truck remained on scene, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
